Literature Circles
As we start our second round of literature circles in 5th grade this year I thought it would be an interesting thing to write about here. Feel free to comment if you have done literature circles with your class or if you have any questions for me. Here are some things I love about literature circles: 1. The kids are highly motivated to select a book from the options provided and feel like a cohesive team because they all chose their book. 2. Students love talking about the books they are reading. I always feel like I'm stopping a great discussion because we could talk for hours. It builds a love for reading in students. They get to listen to their peers and become excited about a text. 3. The discussions give me great insight into student's strengths and areas that could use some work. 4. The jobs they complete matter.
